bread bowl

on sunday afternoons, flake and i eat lunch with his parents and grandmother after church.
we typically eat at panera. i love going to the same place over and over again, and i order the same thing over and over, until i just don't want to eat there any more ever again. so going to the same place week after week just makes my heart happy. (i'm like a five year old in that way!)

a few months back, while it was still cold outside, (ok so that was more than a few, but you get the point), flake and i met the others at panera after going to get our pictures taken for an engagement session. we were both cold and excited to get inside and warm up. i ordered my usual broccoli and cheddar soup in a bread bowl.

i waited ever so patiently for the soup to arrive. i was super excited to dig into the soup, and then eat the bread bowl. at the point that the soup arrived, i was almost to the point of drooling....but i was able to contain myself.
i was busy eating my soup, when all of a sudden i hit a bump. literally...in the bottom of the bread bowl!

HOT soup went flying out of the bowl, all over my hair, face, hands, arms, shirt, pants, EVERYWHERE!
most people don't know this about me, but i am so very scared of hot liquids, but that is another story that will need to wait for another day!
i was so shocked that i began to laugh and cry all at the same time.
i couldn't explain to flake what i was needing from him because i was too busy trying to figure out what had happened.
i stood up and started shaking, trying to explain to him in my flailing that i needed napkins.
to this day, i'm not sure why he didn't understand what i was asking for?!?!
after flake helped clean me up, pick broccoli bits our of my hair, and tried his very best to wipe the cheddar goo off of me, i decided i was done with my lunch for the day.

so here i sit on a sunday afternoon, months later,
mourning the bread bowl,
i decided in that moment that eating hot soup out of a bread bowl was just too dangerous for me to do, especially in public!

That is so sad because I'm sure the bread bowl is also mourning the loss of you! ;) Love ya!

I know this was traumatic for you, but it was both funny and scary (at the same time) for those of us who witnessed the catastrophe. Those bowls are just plain dangerous.
